No Devices

Electronics are a beautiful thing. One click and a car appears to transport you to Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory. You’re always one click away from an addiction to a new series on Netflix. One click and Ice cream appears at your door.

But at some point, you have to ask yourself: is this the best use of my very short, and very precious time on this planet? Does this phone really have my best interest in mind? Is it remotely possible that my phone also works for corporations that pay for my attention? Is it making my heart beat slower, or faster?

Who knows. Maybe it’s only good for you. But I doubt that.

So this weekend, how about spending a day with no devices? Take a long walk in the woods. Dust-out an old cookbook and try a recipe you never heard of before. Only speak to people directly in front of you.

Let’s see how that goes for us.
