The Day-Off Checklist
Weekends and days off are different for everyone but the important thing to remember is that it’s a break from work. Use your time off to completely switch off from work and you will restart your week fresh and full of energy.
Easier said then done, right? Here are some tips to help. Even if you don’t think about work for a few hours, that’s a great start.
1. Switch off
Avoid reading emails or answering work calls. When you have your own business that is much harder than working for someone else but set the boundaries. Setting time aside for yourself will make you and your business healthier in the long term.
2. Get into nature
There are countless studies on the benefits of connecting to nature so get hiking, running, swimming, sailing. Have a picnic in a park or do some gardening. Whatever takes your fancy - breathe the fresh air and feel the ground beneath your feet.
3.Be present
Try to be in the moment whatever you’re doing. When you’re with friends and family be present and listen and talk to them. People are amazing support networks and can bring perspective to many of issues and anxieties.
4. Get cultured
Theatre, art galleries, movies, concerts are amazing places that can transport you away to another place and time. It is amazingly beneficial for the soul. And if there’s something you’ve always wanted to try - like photography, painting, sculpting, ceramics - go for for it. Book in for a course or a workshop. There is no better way to completely switch off than being in the zone doing something you truly love
